Microsoft Teams services are down

A service outage affecting Microsoft Teams has prevented certain users from accessing the program and restricted their capabilities.

Around 11 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, the outage started. In the afternoon, there were increasing reports of technical problems, which peaked just before 2 p.m. By then, over 14,500 service issues had been reported, according to statistics from outage tracker DownDetector. The tracker shows that by 5:44 p.m., there were just about 1,100 reports left.

Microsoft did not answer to a request for comment from CBS MoneyWatch right away.

67% of the issues that users reported had to do with the Teams app, 25% had to do with service connection issues, and 8% had to do with website issues, according to DownDetector. Reports of delayed messages and issues with graphic presentations were among the complaints made by users who were unable to utilize the service.

Microsoft was inundated with complaints on social media, despite the fact that it was unknown how many people were impacted by the disruptions.

The company’s official account for service problems, Microsoft 365 Status, announced on Friday via an X post that it had discovered “a networking issue impacting a portion of the Teams service” and that it had migrated the impacted processes to a backup server.
The business also stated that it was making progress toward resuming Teams service in the Middle East and Europe. Along with monitoring the disruptions, Microsoft said it was protecting its network in North and South America and optimizing traffic patterns and applying configuration modifications to minimize the impact on customers as soon as feasible.
